Nominations and Elections

It is that time of year again for us to nominate and elect our Officers and Board of Directors for the coming year. It is important to remember that these are the people you elect to make the decisions on how the club is run. If you are not happy with how things are, or the way the club conducts itself, then you need to nominate and elect people you think are qualified to run the club the way you would like it to be run. This is not just a popularity contest! Make your vote count!

Nominations will be held on Thursday August 26 and Thursday September 30. Election night will be Thursday October 28. There will not be any nominations allowed on election night. Remember to bring your membership card with you on election night or you will not be allowed to vote. Remember only current paid up members in good standing are allowed to vote.

2011 ANNUAL DUES

Folks, it is that time of the year again. That’s right dues.
All dues should be paid prior to September 1, 2010. At midnight on the 31st of August, the new lock will be put on the gate. So don’t get locked out. Remember when you fill out your receipt to make sure your address is current. I ask you to please write as neat as possible so I am able to read it. That is the only way I can keep the roster current and make sure everyone gets their newsletters. Also, if you have an e-mail address, write it on the receipt. This way we can get information to you quickly.

Don’t forget, the dues are $100.00. It is still quite a deal.

WORK DAYS

We will have a workday Saturday September 18th, 2010. We will be just doing a general cleanup. So please bring your weed eaters, leaf rakes, shovels, and yard tools.

Also we will be doing some painting, on the cook house so bring your painting supplies. Rollers, trays, brushes etc. Remember, the more people that show up, the less people have to work.

As always, there will be food served, after the work is done for lunch.

Anyone who has anything stored on club grounds must keep the area around it mowed, or move it.

Website

We need pictures and articles for our website. Remember, they need to be family friendly.

Important BNCP

The Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) Advisory Committee (ORVAC) will meet at the Big Cypress Swamp Welcome Center, 33000 Tamiami Trail East, Ochopee, FL 34141 from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17th.

Following the TRU trail implementation process, the NPS will begin work to designate trails within the Corn Dance Unit of the Preserve. The NPS will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m. at the Oasis Visitor Center to accept input from the public relative to the conceptual trail map for that unit. It is important that individuals provide accurate location data for trails, intersections and destinations by providing GPS coordinates, track logs, waypoints or placemarks/paths in .kmz (Google Earth) format.

Annual Fish Fry

Members and guests, it is that time of the year again. That’s right it’s time for our annual fish fry. It will be September 25th at the Airboat Association of Florida club grounds, 7 miles west of Krome Avenue on US41. The last fish fry was an unbelievable success. This year’s should prove to be even bigger and better. We have the “Keys Gang” coming up to show us how to do a real fish fry.

There is a rumor that at this year’s fish fry the “Naples Guys” will be putting on a big poker run. The more boats there are the more fun it will be.

There will probably be someone walking up to you during the day asking for money for the 50/50 raffle. Dig deep, 50% of the money collected goes to the club, 50% of the money goes to the lucky winner. It might be you.

Come out, bring your boats, invite your friends and family, and have fun.
